Pacific Oaks College, located in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, is a diverse institution that has been awarded a U.S. Department of Education Title V Grant. The grant, awarded because of the college’s 48.7% Latinx undergraduate student population, has allowed them to implement academic services to support student retention and success. One of these services is a podcast series, initiated by the Associate VP of Partnership Development, Dr. Judy Castro, to help raise awareness about the value and importance of higher education degree attainment within the Latino community. The podcast covers a wide range of topics such as aligning your interests with a college degree program, applying for financial aid, the application process, and the campus resources available to students. The podcast also features motivational stories from local Latinos who have overcome challenges and earned their college degrees as a foundation for success. Overall, Pacific Oaks College is committed to providing academic support to its diverse student body and promoting the value of higher education within the Latinx community.
